Dr. MAREK Ostaszewski

Marek Ostaszewski
He works as a scientific project manager at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB). His interests focus on IT applied to knowledge management in biomedical research. Marek was one of the key drivers in the development of the Parkinson disease map (PD map), an interactive, open access knowledge repository of molecular mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease. Being a computer scientist by training, he received his PhD from the University of Luxembourg in the domain of network traffic analysis. Subsequently, he moved to LCSB as postdoctoral researcher in the Computational Biology group focusing on analysis of topology of biological networks. Before becoming a scientific project manager, he worked for over a year at the Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg (IBBL) on management of clinical research and IT challenges of modern biobanking.

He was born in Caracas where he studied architecture and urban planning at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV).  In 2009 he graduated with a Master in Advanced Architecture from the Institute for advanced architecture of Catalonia (IaaC). The usage of digital fabrication tools along his professional trajectory and a multi-scalar approach to design characterize his work, these career moves motivated the architect to run the FabLab Luxembourg, located in the Technoport of Belval since April 2013.
